At the end of March 2008, the Department of Justice approved the merger between XM and SIRIUS. What does this mean? In short, it means that the merger will almost definitely happen. Both companies are waiting for the FCC to approve the merger. This is the final step before the companies can start their merging process. The claim is that the approval from the FCC should be happening some time this spring. Since spring is over, it’s obvious that the estimation was off a little, but my guess would be that the approval will happen some day very soon. Once the FCC gives their approval, the two companies say that they should be merged in a couple of months.

This is great news for the consumer because it means the best of both worlds. You will be able to get all of the XM and all of the SIRIUS programming combined. There will be no more question about which is better. You will have the best satellite programming without a doubt.

If you have one of these services and are thinking about switching to the other, my personal opinion would be that you wait since the merger is so close to happening. Currently, if you switched services, you would have to purchase a new receiver so that it would be compatible with the other satellite radio service.  However, if you wait for a few moths, that won’t be the case. Both companies have further stated that no XM or SIRIUS satellite radio receivers will become obsolete. This means that no existing customer from either company will have to purchase additional or replacement equipment.

I think we can expect to see a lot of great things in satellite radio in the months to come.

With the help of Microsoft, Ford developed the incredibly innovative Ford Sync system. Ford Sync is a system that can integrate almost any cell phone system and almost any type of digital media player into its system and utilize them using voice commands, the multifunctional steering wheel, or the radio’s controls. The idea of Ford Sync is that it makes all of your telecommunication and entertainment needs easily accessible while driving. Ford Sync is so amazing that it can even accept text messages and will read them aloud to you. It also recognizes and translates approximately 100 text shorthand notations such as “LOL” (laughing out loud).

Available in Ford, Lincoln, or Mercury vehicles, the Ford Sync system can understand three different languages: American English, Canadian French, and North American Spanish. As Ford Sync was introduced to its 2008 models in the fall of 2007, Ford is still making enhancements. In fact, there are two new ones coming out in the fall of 2008. Ford anticipated this and made it possible for anyone with a Ford Sync system to be able to download any new updates from the web or from a Ford, Lincoln, or Mercury dealership.

The two new features coming out in the fall of 2008 are the 911 assist and the Vehicle Health Report. The 911 assist will make it easier to call 911 and will do it free of charge. If your airbag is deployed, then Ford Sync will call 911 for you. If you can’t speak or are unconscious, there is a prerecorded message that will play for the 911 operator. The Vehicle Health Report is a system that, when you activated it will give you a real-time detailed analysis of your vehicle’s health and what type of maintenance that it needs.

Each year, Ford has plans to enhance the Ford Sync system to keep up with the absolute latest technology.

We’re less than a day away from the official unveiling of the 2009 Ford Ka, just for is regularly the case, more cracks are appearing in the dam. This latest leakage comes courtesy of AM-Online, with 2 new pics showing the Ka’s new rear end and, more importantly, the inside.

Ford’s”Kinetic” cues carry over to the Ka, with a slanted stance, considerable C-pillar and miniscule spoiler below the rear window. The interior has undergone a thorough update, again a new three-spoke steering wheel with brushed aluminum accents that tie into the door handles and curvaceous center stack. The new IP is a subtle blend of simplicity and functionality, with a high-mounted shifter similar to that discovered on the EP3 Civic Si, along with two-tone thrones this match the turquoise hue of the exterior.

Earlier reports suggest this motivation will be provided by a worthwhile of three powerplants - a 1.4-liter or 1.6-liter gasoline motor or a 1.6-liter TDCi diesel - and a ST dissimilar will likely follow, powered by a turbocharged 1.4-liter.

Look for all the official info later today or early tomorrow.

There are different variants of the Ford Mustang to cater the needs of Mustang fanatics who may want varied performance and style. The Mustang is one of the most popular types of vehicles produced by Ford because of its powerful engine and sleek design that many aspire of owning one but only few are privilege enough to actually own their very own Ford Mustang. Whether it’s new or old, as long as it’s a Mustang then it’s definitely a sight for sore eyes.

This is a list of the different versions of the Ford Mustang both manufactured by Ford and by a third-party in the recent years from 2007 to 2008 only.

Ford has created a version of the GT which they called as Bullitt. Bullitt was a movie made in the year 1968 where Steve McQueen starred and drove a fast as lightning car. A 2008 version of the Ford Mustang Bullitt was created to resemble the old and popular Bullitt car from that legendary movie. It is equipped with a V8 4.6 liter engine with modified chassis as well as cold air induction technology, what you get is a very balanced version of the Ford Mustang. It is equipped with the same dark green paint as the original and is also available in black. It can produce up to 315 hp at 6000 rpm and 325 lb-ft of torque at 4250 rpm.

Variants of the Ford Mustang are modified under Shelby. For 2006-2007, a variant of the Mustang that had been introduced was the Shelby GT-H. It was in the New York Auto Show back in 2006 when the world had a first glimpse of Shelby GT-H. It produces up to 325 hp and 330 lb-ft of torque. It was exclusively available under the Hertz car rental.

The 2007 variant of the Ford Mustang from Shelby is the Shelby GT500. It is equipped with a 5.4 liter V8 engine that can produce up to an amazing 500 hp. It is estimated that only 10,000 units of this car will be produced a year for only 3 years.

The 2007 Shelby GT500 is rebuilt into a better and more powerful version called the Super Snake that produces 605 hp with its 2.5 liter supercharged engine. Its inspiration is the 1967 GT500 Super Snake.

For 2008, it’s the Ford Shelby GT500KR’s turn to hit the center stage. It is equipped with a 5.4 liter supercharged V8 engine that can produce up to 540 hp. It is equipped with a power upgrade pack. Only 1,000 units of this version is produced for 2008 and only 1,571 units will be produced for 2009. The 2008 Ford Shelby GT500KR is the car used in the new Knight Rider as KITT.

Another third party involved in producing different versions of the Ford Mustang is Roush Performance. They started producing Mustangs back in 2001 and for 2007, Roush had introduced two versions of the Ford Mustang, the sport and the 427R editions which are both based on the S-197. The Sport edition is the base model and is available in 3 stages of performance and can produce up to 415 hp and 385 lb-ft of torque for its Stage 3 version. The 427R can produce up to 20 hp more than the Stage 3 model of the Sport edition.

Another third party is Saleen. In 2007, Saleen and Parnelli Jones have created their own version of the Ford Mustang. The S302 is a limited edition and is created as a tribute to Boss 302. It can produce up to 400 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque.

There are more up and coming versions of the Ford Mustang both from third-party partners as well as from Ford themselves. With the popularity of the Mustang, it is guaranteed that more and more versions of it will be manufactured for many more years to come.

The rapidly shrinking US vehicle market has left automakers scrambling for any way to differentiate their products from the competition, and the fastest way to get the job done is with technology. Microsoft is all too aware of that, and the tech giant is betting big on automotive to give itself a most presence in a rapidly growing field. Microsoft has increased both staffing and funding by 30% in an effort to get in on the connectivity and infotainment ground floor. Sync has been Microsoft’s crowning achievement in the automotive space to date, with over 200,000 units sold so far and 1 m expected by the end of 2009. Though Ford owns Sync branding rights, Microsoft will be able to peddle the inexpensive system to other automakers in 2009. Microsoft’s”Live Search” technology is similarly accessible to automakers, and it will spawn in-car systems this allow drivers to search for nearby businesses.

Seeing every other aspect of our lives is now interconnected, it makes sense being cars to follow the trend. Whether you love the Microsoft or hate it, having the 800-pound gorilla in the automotive realm is a acceptable thing. We but hope we won’t have to disturbance about a blue screen of death plaguing our family wagon.

NBC’s Knight Rider is worth checking out especially for the Mustang fanatics out there. If you haven’t watched the show yet, you better stay tuned on NBC and take a closer look on the new KITT car they use. With the new Knight Rider, they used Ford’s Shelby GT500KR Mustang and they use 3 models for the show. Each model is used for different reasons. The first model is the day-to-day version which is quite basic with no extra hi-tech features. The second model is the one being used for those awesome action scenes where the day-to-day model of this new KITT just can’t be up to par. The third model is used with a remote control so it is basically the driverless version of the KITT.

To all the Knight Rider fans out there, surely you are not disappointed with this great new change. The older version of the KITT car used was the Pontiac F-Body but for this new show they went for a much better “cool” car and it’s none other than the most powerful version of Mustang that has ever been created.

The new Mustang is actually a reincarnation of the old version, the 1968 Ford Mustang GT500KR. During its debut in New York last 2007, many fans were enthusiastic and were excited to see how this new model of the Ford Mustang truly resembles its inspiration, the classic GT500KR. With such an acceptance, it’s no wonder why it has been chosen to be the new KITT car.

If you’re such a fan of the Knight Rider or of Ford Mustang and may want to purchase one for yourself, make sure you have really deep pockets. This car does not come cheap and there are only about 1000 units produced. For a basic version of Ford Shelby GT500KR Mustang may cost you more than $50,000! If you can’t afford to buy your very own Ford Shelby GT500KR just like many people, satisfy your thirst for this awesome car by watching the new Knight Rider regularly on NBC.

What’s a Mercury? That’s a question that’s been on the lips of senior execs at FoMoCo due to some time. Positioned between Ford and Lincoln, the badge-engineered brand has been lacking defined products being over a decade, simply according to the Derrick Kuzak, Ford’s world product chief, that’s going to change.

Mercury will be repositioned considering an entry-level premium brand that will still slot in below Lincoln, only will be built up entirely of small automobiles and crossovers. Lincoln dealers, on the other hand, will be stocking mid-size sedans and most autos, while Mercury will focus on smaller, more fuel-efficient products.

The 1st move on Mercury’s part to reestablish itself will come in the design of a new small car, derived from an unnamed Ford vehicle, which is slated to go on sale in 2010. The Milan and Mariner will remain, merely the Sable, Moutaineer and Grand Marquis might be nixed in that they won’t fit in with Mercury’s newest makeover.

When you watch MTV these days, it’s not hard to notice artists showing off their stuff with the all magnificent bling blings – the bigger the bling, the shinier the bling, the better. It’s almost as if these so called “blings” now define the status quo of anyone and anything. As they always say, first impressions last. And how do you get that ever coveted love at first sight setting? It’s by looking good… yes, looking truly good.

Looking good is also as important to any car as it is to every person as physical manifestation adds to an automobiles marketability. Car companies have invested millions to come up with trendier and up to date car makes and designs that will satisfy the county’s ever growing demand for quality and affordable vehicles (that can deliver “the” service without compromising the exterior and interior features). For America’s best-selling crossover Ford Edge, it has yet again risen to the occasion as the 2009 Ford Edge Sport is introduced in the market.

The 2009 Ford Edge Sport has given its first hello at the 2008 Chicago Auto Show. It has showcased the factory-quality, customized look to instantly catch the attention of crossover customers who want a sportier custom appearance and feel to their vehicle. The design itself has shown the increasing popularity of personalization of vehicles – the so-called “pimp-my-ride” idea.  The Sport model has a more modern, athletic design, and flexible package with unique features like VistaRoof™ and SYNC technology (Sync integrates the in-car entertainment /communication systems such as MP3 players, cell phones, PDAs and USB flash devices, etc. and links them to voice recognition software). The 2009 Ford Edge Sport also shows off an optional 22-inch polished aluminum wheels or the standard 20-inch premium painted wheels (talk about huge wheels!) with branded center hubs together with the low-profile, 40-series Pirelli Scorpion Zero tires that definitely give the crossover a mightier and more aggressive look. The crossover also has an eight-piece body kit that includes front air dam; side skirts lower door caps and rear skirts.

The model will be available in blue, ebony, brilliant silver and red fire. The interior will sport dark gray leather seats with suede-feel patterned inserts in light and dark gray. The center console has an etched metal-style trim. In terms of engine performance, the standard and sole engine/ transmission combination available in the Edge is a 265 hp. 3.5 liter V-6 with variable cam timing and six-speed automatic driving with either the front wheels or (optionally) a full-time AWD system. The 2009 Ford Edge’s engine runs on 87 regular octanes.

The safety features include  side-impact and full-row head/curtaina air bags, traction and stability control that Ford calls “Rollover Avoidance Logic” and four-wheel-disc brakes with ABS. Rear parking sensors are optional on SEL and Limited models - but no back-up camera is offered.

Ford has indeed set the standards of style and fun. In the next succeeding years, Ford will again surprise everyone with an edgier and wicked look for all its car makes in general.

If you’re looking for a car that can give you the smoothest driving experience, killer looks and versatile interiors, then look no more. 2009 Fusion is Ford’s response to your every whim. It is a 4-door, 5-passenger family sedan, available in 7 trims. These are 2009 Ford Fusion I4 S , 2009 Ford Fusion I4 SE , 2009 Ford Fusion I4 SEL, 2009 Ford Fusion V6 SE, 2009 Ford Fusion V6 SEL,  2009 Ford Fusion V6 SE AWD and the 2009 Ford Fusion V6 SEL AWD.

The model is a carryover from 2008 which promises a more dramatic design, handling, safety and technology. As a matter of fact the new 2009 Ford Fusion has a bolder look which is the outcome of its dynamic styling and airflow design. It has a sleek front end to the sculpted rear and a deck lid spoiler, which gives the car its sporty new looks and spell functionality. Another great feature is the dual tipped exhaust Fusion’s chrome deck lid brow molding and sporty quasi-dual chrome-tipped exhausts which come standard on Fusion V6 SEL. 2009 Ford Fusion also comes in four packages - blue suede package, sport appearance package, sun and sync value package and the moon and tune value package.

When it comes to handling, will Ford be after everything else? Of course, no. Ford engineers came up with a multi-link independent rear suspension’s design flexibility to give Fusion excellent ride quality and handling capability. It also has a double-wishbone independent front suspension with stabilizer bars. Fuel efficiency is also on hand with the 2.3L 16-valve Duratec I4 engineered with four valves per cylinder, activated by dual overhead camshafts with advanced intake variable-cam timing (iVCT) technology. This design increases engine breathing and boosts power output. The 2.3L Duratec, with a 5-speed manual transmission, gives an incredible 160-hp rating, but also excellent fuel economy estimates of 20 city/29 hwy mpg together with its six speed automatic transmission.

In addition, with safety as an important concern, Ford Fusion also has AdvanceTrac® Electronic Stability Control (ESC) which constantly monitors road conditions and the driver’s responses, adjusts engine torque and applies the ABS brakes to help keep all the wheels firmly planted. The car’s uni-body construction with energy-absorbing design and side-impact door beams provide crash absorbing benefits in events of collisions and road accidents. The Personal Safety System® and the Six standard airbags ultimately crowned the 2009 Ford Fusion the government’s highest 5-Star Frontal Crash Test Rating.

The Ford Fusion is nothing short in terms of technology. It has Sirius satellite radio with 130 channels for music, news, sports and entertainment, reverse sensing system for added safety, ambient lighting to suit your mood, Mp3 audio input jack and Sync voice technology which allow you to access your music collection by genre, album, artist or song title and operate your Bluetooth® phone with voice commands to envy for.

Overall the 2009 Ford Fusion is the cherry on a chocolate sundae… Simply fun, simply exciting.

One of the attributes of a vehicle that is of some importance is the interior roominess of the vehicle. Depending on the main use of your vehicle often dictates what your needs are with reference to passenger room. If this isn’t the main family car or you don’t have children and you rarely have back seat passengers, then the room in the rear seats won’t be as important to you as to someone who has growing adolescents who often ride in the back seat.

I’ve designed a list of Ford vehicles to help you sort out which ones have the most room for your needs. Of course, the list is separated by vehicle type.

I’m proud to say that I’m not old enough to have seen the 1968 movie “Bullitt” when it was first released into movies theaters. However, this is a great police action film starring Steve McQueen and his 1968 Ford Mustang 390 CID Fastback. The plot for the movie involves a witness that the police department, including Lieutenant Frank Bullitt (played by Steve McQueen) is protecting for a soon to be held court case involving organized crime. The weekend before the trial, despite the police department’s efforts, the witness is shot by two hit men and is brought to the hospital in serious condition. In the meantime, Lt. Bullitt is out to catch the two hit men. The movie is very famous for a thrilling chase scene involving Lt. Bullitt’s dark green Ford Mustang and a black 1968 Dodge Charger RT 440 Magnum.

Though the 2008 Ford Escape hybrid is slightly more expensive with a starting price of $27,445 than the 2008 Ford Taurus X at $27,030, it doesn’t take too much thought to realize that the 2008 Ford Escape hybrid is a lot more cost efficient than the 2008 Ford Taurus X. This is, of course due to the fuel efficiency of the Escape hybrid. The Ford Escape hybrid gets 34 mpg in the city, 30 mpg on the highway and 33 mpg combined while the 2008 Ford Taurus X gets 16 mpg in the city, 24 mpg on the highway, and 19 mpg combined.

Of course, there are other factors besides the cost efficiency to consider when determining which vehicle to purchase. The obvious difference in these two vehicles is that one is an SUV and the other is a crossover, so some of the features and characteristics will be different such as size, style, towing capacity, and cargo capacity. But, right now, we’re just going to talk about cost efficiency. By looking at the information above, it’s easy to determine that the 2008 Ford Escape hybrid is the more cost efficient purchase, but I’ve put together some interesting facts with regards to the cost and fuel efficiency of each vehicle.

If both vehicles were to last 150,000 miles at a rate of $4 per gallon for gas, the Ford Escape would end up being $12,982 less expensive when considering sticker price and gas mileage. If both vehicles had a life span of 175,000 miles, the savings on the Escape hybrid would be $15,215 and the savings would be $14,657 over the life of the vehicle if each vehicle had a life span of 200,000 miles. If the price of gas were $4.50 per gallon, then you would save $14,657 if each vehicle lasted 150,000 miles, $17,169 if each vehicle lasted 175,000 miles, and $19,681 if each vehicle lasted 200,000 miles by purchasing the Ford Escape hybrid. Any of these amounts saved would be a great deal of money saved toward a new vehicle.

Another way to look at it is to see what it would take for you to break even on these vehicles. If each vehicle lasted 150,000 miles, gas prices would have to be $8.07 per gallon for you to have the same cost efficiency from both of these vehicles. Gas prices would have to be $9.42 per gallon if each vehicle were to last 175,000 miles and gas prices would have to be $10.76 per gallon if each vehicle were to last 200,000 miles and you were to break even on the cost efficiency of these vehicles. Whew! Let’s hope we don’t see gas prices like that!

You could also look at it like this: How long would each vehicle have to last before you would break even on cost efficiency? At $4 per gallon for gas, the vehicles would each have to last 330,084 miles and if gas were $4.50 per gallon, then each vehicle would have to last 296,458 miles. While we can’t speculate how long a vehicle will last because it depends on so many different factors, we can pretty much assume that you’ll want to upgrade your vehicle well before it hits the 300,000 mile mark.

I hope you enjoyed these useful facts. If you do decide to go with the most cost efficient vehicle, you can tell your friend some of these facts. Not only will it impress them, but they may learn something.

If you’re over the age of thirty, you may remember the hit TV series “Knight Rider” that ran from 1982 to 1986. It was an action, adventure, crime, science fiction show starring David Hasselhoff as Michael Knight. The vehicle he drove, K.I.T.T. (Knight Industries Two Thousand), a Pontiac Trans Am, was a advanced technology car that could hold a conversation, drive itself, go up to 300 miles per hour, and had every kind of gadget you could imagine (for that time period). When the idea came about to make a new Knight Rider series, there was a slight snafu. The Pontiac Trans Am wasn’t in production anymore. There are very few muscle cars that would fit the bill as the new K.I.T.T. (Knight Industries Three Thousand), but the 2008 Shelby GT500KR Mustang by Ford was perfect.

There was a problem with this as well, but it could be worked around. At the time that filming was due to start, the 2008 Shelby GT500KR wasn’t in production yet. So, the people at Galpin Auto Sports (GAS) in Los Angeles, California, who are auto customizers were hired to do the job. There were actually three K.I.T.T. cars made for the pilot movie and the new TV series: a Hero car, an Attack car, and a remote car.

The pilot movie aired on February 17, 2008 and was a huge hit! The TV series will air on September 24, 2008. The stars of this new NBC TV series are Justin Bruening as Mike Traceur (Michael Knight’s son of whom he’d been separated) and Deanna Russo, who plays Mike Tracuer’s girlfriend, Sarah Graiman. The voice of the new K.I.T.T. is played by Val Kilmer. In the pilot movie that aired in February, David Hassehoff made an appearance as Michael Knight to tie the two series together.

This promises to be an exciting year with “Knight Rider” coming back into the lives of those of us that remember and enjoyed the show. It also will bring a new thrill to our new generation. Now our youngsters won’t have to know a world without “Knight Rider”.

Of course, I love Ford vehicles and so do you. We love the quality of the vehicles, the way they look and perform, and what they stand for. However, compared to other vehicles, how did they compare in performance according to the owners of 2008 vehicles from all makers? Here are the results of how Ford rated against other vehicles in their class.

Among the Best: Unfortunately, none of the 2008 Ford models were among the best when pertaining to performance.

2008 Ford Focus - one of 20 vehicles in the compact car class
2008 Ford Escape - one of 25 vehicles in the compact multi-activity vehicle class
2008 Ford Edge - one of 24 vehicles in the midsize utility vehicle class
2008 Ford Explorer Sport Trac - one of 8 vehicles in the midsize pickup truck class

Average:
2008 Ford Fusion - one of 17 vehicles in the midsize car class

The 2009 Ford Fusion comes in three different trim levels: S, SE, and SEL as well as two different engine sizes: a 160-horse-power, 2.3-liter 4-cylinder and a 221-horsepower, 3.0-liter V6 engine (not available in the Ford Fusion S). The 4-cylinder engine comes standard with a 5-speed manual transmission with an overdrive feature for extra fuel efficiency, but you also have a choice of the optional electronically controlled 5-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. The V6 engine comes equipped with a 6-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission with the overdrive feature. The V6 engine also allows you to get the AWD option as opposed to the standard FWD.

As always, the 2009 Ford Fusion has great fuel efficiency with 20 mpg in the city for the 4-cylinder models and 18 mpg in the city for the V6 engine models. The V6 gets 26 mpg on the highway, which isn’t bad, but if you want increased fuel efficiency, then you’ll go with the 4-cylinder as it get 29 mpg on the highway.

You’ll love the smart and sensible appeal both on the inside and out. With ten exterior colors to chose from, you’ll be sure to find a color that’s perfect for you. The interior comes with extra comfortable seats and a 6-way power-adjustable feature for the driver’s seat on the SE and SEL models, while the S only has 4-way manually adjustable seats for the driver. The tilt/telescoping steering column feature is standard with cruise control buttons on the steering wheel. The SE and SEL models also have audio controls on the steering wheel. I love the ambient lighting on that comes standard on the SEL, but comes with the optional Blue Suede Package on the SE model. The ambient lighting shines either red, blue, yellow, green, purple, white, or aqua lighting in the foot wells, the center console bin and the front seat cup holders.

You’ll feel great knowing that your 2009 Ford Fusion was awarded a five-star crash test rating for frontal impact safety. With the Personal Safety System, Occupant Classification System, anti-lock braking system (ABS), optional tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and optional AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control (RSC) you will know that you’ll be safer. Traction Control is optional with the V6 engine and FWD, but it’s standard with the AWD.

Great convenience and media features include the optional Rear Park Assist (available on the SE and SEL models), an AM/FM stereo with CD player, 6-disc CD player (standard in the SE and SEL models), SIRIUS satellite radio (not available in the S), Ford Sync powered by Microsoft (not available in the S model and only optional in the SE model), and a DVD-based navigation system, which is only optional in the SEL model.

This amazing vehicle with the great safety rating and features, excellent fuel efficiency, a great appearance and a some awesome features starts at a price of $18,135, which is a great value for all of this. I would splurge and at least get the SE trim level for a little more than $1,000 extra just so that you have more features. No matter what your decisions will be as to which 2009 Ford Fusion model and which features you get, you will know that you’ve made a sound choice on the 2009 Ford Fusion.

Ford contributed a very special addition to the 2007 Barrett-Jackson auction held between January 13th and the 21st. The year 2007 denoted the 75th anniversary of the classic hot rod built in 1932. One hundred 75th anniversary editions of the roadster version of this vehicle were made for the sole purpose of auctioning each of these at the Jackson-Barrett auction. The first of the one hundred to be auctioned was first autographed and driven by Edsel B. Ford II, the great grandson of Henry Ford. All of the proceeds from the auction went to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).

This vehicle never officially had a name and was just known as the 1932 hot rod; however, it was affectionately given the nickname “Deuce”. There were several versions of this hot rod, but the most popular were the 3-window coupe, 5-window coupe, and the roadster. In fact, have you ever herd the oldies song “Little Deuce Coupe” by the Beach Boys? This song was about the 3- window version of this hot rod.

In 2000, the remake of  “Gone in 60 Seconds” was released. The great original classic was released in 1974 starring the original writer of the film, H.B. Halicki. In the 2000 version, the plot was the same, but there were some changes. Nicolas Cage played the starring role of Memphis, a former car thief, who is forced to get back into the business and is forced to steal 50 cars in the matter of days. A crime boss (played by Christopher Ecelson) is threatening to kill Mempis’ brother, Kip who is portrayed by Giovanni Ribisi.

One thing that’s the same in the movies is that one of the cars that gets a lot of attention in the movie is Eleanor. In the 2000 film, Eleanor was a 1967 Shelby Mustang GT500.

Other Ford vehicles that were in the 2000 remake were a 2000 Ford F-250 named Anne, an 1956 Ford T-Bird named Susan, and a 1966 Shelby Cobra named Ashley.
